Article Focus: [General Focus]

Writers will produce one in-depth feature article per month spotlighting topics relevant to the Southern Ohio business community. Suggested focus areas include: Local business features or profiles Regional economic trends or industry developments Small business challenges and solutions Entrepreneurship, innovation, or funding resources Workforce, education, and infrastructure impacts Case studies from Ross, Scioto, Pike, Pickaway, and surrounding counties

SBA Format & Editorial Standards

Headline: Clear, engaging, and relevant. Should contain keywords for SEO and reflect story content.
Byline: Your name, title, and or organization representation (if any). All writers must include their real name and at least one type of contact information for editorial review and public-facing contact.
Lede (Opening Paragraph): Capture interest in 2–3 compelling sentences. Set the tone and introduce the business angle.
Body: Use short paragraphs, informative subheadings, and quotes from real, verifiable sources. Include facts, data, and regional context. Avoid fluff or filler.
Conclusion: Wrap with a forward-looking insight or call to action that benefits small business readers.

Guidelines for Writers

Deadline: Articles must be submitted by 5:00 PM EST on the 1st, 7th, 14th, and 21st of each month.

Length: Target word count is 750–1,000 words.

Tone: Professional, factual, and informative. Friendly but never casual or speculative. Attribution: All quotes and data must be sourced and verifiable. No anonymous or fictional content.

Geographic Relevance: Coverage should target Southern Ohio, with a preference for Ross, Pike, Pickaway, and Scioto counties.

Images: Include at least 1–2 relevant, properly sourced images (or request graphic support).

Fact-Checked: All content must be accurate and ready for publication.

Additional Stipulations

Originality Requirement: All feature articles must be original works created by the assigned writer. Plagiarism or AI-generated content without significant human authorship and editorial shaping is strictly prohibited.
National Source Integration: Writers may reference or cite national publications (e.g., Forbes, WSJ, Harvard Business Review) for context, provided they are properly attributed and clearly support the local or regional focus of the article.
Local Emphasis Clause: Even when incorporating national insights, every feature must tie back to Ohio’s business climate, with preference to Southern Ohio counties. Local voices, examples, or case studies should be used wherever possible.
Editorial Review & Revisions: All submissions are subject to editorial review. Writers may be asked to revise or clarify sections prior to publication to meet SBA tone, formatting, or factual accuracy standards.
Exclusivity: Submitted content must not be simultaneously published elsewhere without explicit permission from SBA editorial staff.
